Komaki Distillery – Tradition, Reimagined
Founded in 1909 in Satsuma, Kagoshima, Komaki Distillery has spent more than a century mastering the craft of authentic Satsuma shōchū. Drawing on Kagoshima-grown sweet potatoes, rice and pristine subterranean water, the distillery remains deeply connected to the natural environment surrounding the Sendai River.
Today, Komaki is taking its traditional distilling expertise in an exciting new direction with Japanese whisky. Combining techniques developed through generations of shōchū production with innovative distillation and maturation, the distillery is creating a distinctly modern expression of Kagoshima.
From traditional earthenware-vessel shōchū to whisky matured in rare Yakushima cedar, Komaki continues to explore what is possible while remaining rooted in its home region.
A century of craftsmanship. A new spirit of discovery.
