Marumoto Brewing – From Rice to Sake
Founded in 1867 in Okayama, Marumoto Brewing is a true “farmers’ brewery” where the journey from rice field to sake is entirely connected. Rather than simply sourcing their rice, the brewery grows its own Yamada Nishiki, taking responsibility for the raw material from the soil all the way to the finished sake.
Under the Chikurin name, Marumoto crafts sake that reflects the character of its home-grown rice, pristine local water and the natural environment surrounding the brewery. Their commitment to organic farming has made them pioneers in organic sake, earning internationally recognized certifications in Japan, the United States and Europe.
Rooted in the land and guided by a deep respect for nature, Marumoto believes that great sake begins long before brewing ever starts.
From the field to the bottle — every step matters.
