Kakuboshi – Sake from the Coast of Kesennuma

Founded in 1906 in Kesennuma, Miyagi, Kakuboshi is a brewery deeply rooted in the life and culture of Japan’s Pacific coast. For generations, its sake has been crafted with one simple idea in mind: to bring people together and complement the region’s exceptional seafood.

Kakuboshi’s sake is deliberately balanced and understated, allowing fresh fish and delicate seafood to shine while adding depth and umami of its own. This food-friendly style reflects the brewery’s close relationship with the local community and Kesennuma’s renowned culinary culture.

After the devastating Great East Japan Earthquake and tsunami of 2011, Kakuboshi rebuilt and continued brewing, carrying its traditions and community forward into a new era.

Rooted in the sea, shaped by resilience, and made to be shared.

The taste of Kesennuma, made for the table.
