Kuroki Honten – From Soil to Spirit

Founded in 1885 in Takanabe, Miyazaki, Kuroki Honten has dedicated more than a century to the craft of authentic Japanese shōchū. For the brewery, shōchū begins long before distillation — it begins with the land.

Kuroki Honten grows its own ingredients, cultivates more than 40 hectares of fields and uses the by-products of shōchū production as organic fertilizer, creating a natural cycle between the soil and the spirit. Pure underground water from the Osuzu Mountains and carefully cultivated koji, yeast and raw materials complete this deeply integrated approach.

Home to celebrated expressions such as Kiroku, Nakanaka and the legendary Hyakunen no Kodoku, Kuroki Honten combines tradition with an uncompromising respect for nature.

From the earth, through generations, into the spirit.
