Masahiro Shuzo – The Spirit of Okinawa
Founded in 1883 in Shuri, Okinawa, Masahiro Shuzo is one of the island’s historic producers of Ryukyu Awamori. The distillery’s origins are closely connected to the Ryukyu Kingdom, with its founder drawing on the culinary knowledge of his father, a chef to the royal court.
For more than 140 years, Masahiro has combined traditional Awamori craftsmanship with a pioneering spirit. From introducing new production techniques to becoming one of Okinawa’s most innovative spirits producers, the distillery has never been afraid to look beyond tradition.
Today, Awamori remains at the heart of Masahiro, alongside Okinawa craft gin, vodka and whisky. Across every spirit, the family’s commitment remains the same: to pursue quality while expressing the distinctive character of Okinawa.
