Miyasato Shuzousho – The Spirit of Harusame

Based in Oroku, Naha, Miyasato Shuzousho is a traditional Okinawan distillery best known for Harusame, a distinctive expression of Ryukyu Awamori.

Awamori is one of Japan’s oldest indigenous spirits, made from rice and black koji and shaped by Okinawa’s unique climate and culture. At Miyasato, this traditional craft is expressed through atmospheric distillation and careful maturation, allowing the spirit to develop greater depth and smoothness with time.

Harusame is particularly known for its balanced character, while extended maturation transforms the spirit into Kusu — aged Awamori prized for its rounded texture and complex, naturally sweet aromas.

Rather than chasing novelty, Miyasato Shuzousho represents the quiet strength of Okinawan distilling: traditional ingredients, time-honoured techniques and patience in the cellar.

A small distillery with a distinctive voice, Miyasato shows how deeply character can emerge from simplicity.
