Yucho Sake Brewery – The Future of Ancient Sake

Founded in 1719 in Gose, Nara, Yucho Sake Brewery has spent more than three centuries exploring what sake can be. Today, it is best known for Kaze no Mori, a sake born from the desire to bring freshly pressed, vibrant namazake to local drinkers.

What makes Yucho truly distinctive, however, is the way it connects the past with the future. The brewery actively researches ancient Nara brewing techniques, including Bodaimoto, one of Japan’s oldest methods of preparing a sake starter. At the same time, it embraces modern fermentation technology, innovative brewing equipment and new approaches to raw materials.

This philosophy runs through everything Yucho does: not simply preserving tradition, but understanding it deeply enough to reinvent it. From Kaze no Mori to the historic Takacho Bodaimoto, each sake reflects Nara’s landscape, history and brewing culture in a distinctly contemporary way.

Yucho’s ambition reaches even further — to preserve the beauty of Japan for generations to come.

Three centuries of tradition. A vision for the next hundred years.
